We recently spent some time considering all of the things that God has done at Village Oaks over the previous 8 months. We were so encouraged by it that we started to share it with friends. On the second page, you will see that Landscaping and Flowers are an important part of bringing Dignity, Order, and Life to Village Oaks. Today we are planting our second round of flowers all over the property. Click on the images below to read about what has been going on and what we still look forward to!

Real Men (for Men)
The Real Men of Village Oaks meetings have taken place the last two Fridays. We are having great conversations about why Jesus is the Ultimate Man. Please join us on Fridays at 10:30am in the Home of Champions Gym at Village Oaks.

"Mr. Will, when can we wear the jackets again?"
At Village Oaks we have two "Real Men" meetings. One is for the adults on Friday mornings. The second is for the boys on Tuesdays at 5:30pm.
Josh has been spending time on Tuesdays to walk the boys through what it means to be a man. Many of these boys do not know their fathers or never see them. Our time with these boys is an incredible opportunity! So far we have talked about Love, Leading vs. Following, Service, and Making Things Right.
For some of these boys, they come because they want the t-shirt (and we are OK with that!). If these boys come and hear just a few things about what makes a Real Man, we need to celebrate that. Of course, they can't show up just once to get their t-shirt. The boys must show some consistency, a good attitude, and perform community service.
In our leasing office at Village Oaks there is a large, shiny wooden table about 15 feet long. Around the table sit eight burgundy leather chairs on wheels, and there is a sense that you are in a very high-profile board room. We decided to meet at this table, or as we call it "the board room." The boys love it! They feel like they get to make important decisions and be part of something special.
Recently, we decided to add some flavor to the Real Men meetings for the boys. Now, when the boys get ready to head in to "the board room," we hand them a sport coat! For now, this is just to add to the fun of being part of the Real Men meetings. But, our long-term goal is to provide these boys with their first, nice sport coat. Something we hope they will have an opportunity to use as the grow up to become Real Men. Please join with us in praying for the future of these boys!

Village Oaks Beautification Day
One week from today (next Friday, June 10th), a competition will begin at Village Oaks for a highly sought after prize: the Beautiful Building Award. This competition will invite residents of Village Oaks to keep their building areas clean. Every 3 months, buildings will be judged based upon four criteria: trash, breezeways, landscaping, and enhancement.
Buildings who receive the Beautiful Building Award will be honored as a group of people. Winners will be given a “party pack” complete with hotdogs, chips, cookies, and drinks to be used for a building celebration.
To kick off this competition, we will be hosting the first ever Village Oaks Beautification Day. We plan to plant flowers, pick up trash, and enhance the overall look of Village Oaks. There are several flowerbeds around the center of the property, but we would like to install many more around buildings throughout Village Oaks. Groups of residents living in a shared building have been invited to participate by requesting a flowerbed and helping with the planting. Planting a flowerbed around a building will directly contribute to that building’s chances of winning a Beautiful Building Award.
If you are interested in the Village Oaks Beautification Day, we invite you to join with us as we kick off the Beautiful Building Competition. We will be looking for donations and volunteers! See below for a list of available opportunities:
1. Volunteer as a planter
2. Soil (40, 40lb. bags)
3. Flowers (75 total flats)
4. Fertilizer (2, 12lb. bags)
5. Metal Flowerbed Borders
