Extravagant God

Debbie was frustrated and discouraged.  She has lots of mouths to feed at the Kingdom Culture men’s house, where Rickey Fanning lives.  She is also serious about nutrition.  Even though other types of food are available to the house, the small budget just doesn’t allow for the purchase of many healthy fruits and vegetables.

The other day, when she left the parking lot of Sunflower Market with a tiny amount of produce she cried out to God for help. “God, you have got to help me figure out how to get fruits and vegetables to feed the guys in the house."  That was Monday.

On Tuesday, a man showed up at the door of The Father’s House, whom Debbie had never seen.  He explained that he lived in the neighborhood and had noticed the long lines of people who we feed there.  He went on to say that he was the manager of Sunflower Market, and that the normal pickup of day old produce by the North Texas Food Bank was not going to happen for the next 5 months due to the Bank’s remodeling.  “Would you be interested in picking it up every day for your use,” he asked?

Yes!

Now, we receive a daily TRUCKLOAD of fruits and vegetables….enough to feed the men’s house, the women’s house, the Willow Pond Kid’s Club, and yes, the residents of Willow Pond apartments.

Everyday the truck pulls up, and residents help themselves to cherries, grapes, tomatoes, and a multitude of other produce.  They are all so grateful.  For the residents at Willow Pond, such extravagant delicacies are beyond their reach.  But, not beyond the reach of an extravagant God!
